2022 Personal Finance Calendar
The new year is almost upon us! As you flip the calendar on January 1, you should mark some important deadlines to keep you on track:
January
- 1st:Medicare Coverage starts – assuming you’ve paid your premium
- 1st:Annual Medicare Advantage Open Enrollment begins
- 15th:Deadline for Q4 2021 estimated tax payment
February
- Click here for a list of 2021 tax paperwork you’ll probably need to gather
- Create tax file folders for everything from receipts to donations to employment docs
- Make a digital tax folder for electronic statements
March
- 31st:Annual Medicare Advantage Open Enrollment ends
April
- 1st: If you turned 70½ in 2021 (and you were born before 7/1/50), this is the first day to withdraw your first IRA required minimum distribution (RMD)
- 1st: If you turned 72 in 2021 (and you were born after 6/30/50), this is the first day to withdraw your first IRA required minimum distribution (RMD)
- 15th: Deadline for tax submissions or to apply for an extension
- 15th: Deadline for Q1 2022 estimated tax payments
- 15th: Last date to make a 2021 IRA Contribution
June
- 15th: Deadline for Q2 2022 estimated tax payments
September
- 15th: Deadline for Q3 2022 estimated tax payment
- 30th: Deadline for determining designated beneficiaries of an IRA or employer-sponsored retirement plan
October
- 15th: Deadline for extended individual tax returns
- 15th: Medicare Open Enrollment period begins
November
- 1st – 15th: Open Enrollment period for individual healthcare: MarketPlace
December
- 7th: Deadline for Medicare Open Enrollment
- 15th: Deadline for Individual Healthcare Open Enrollment
- 31st: Deadline for stocks, RMDs, itemized deductions, and gifts to count for 2022 taxes
